Independent Living
Vassar-Warner Home provides private residential housing for older adults in our beautiful historic building in Poughkeepsie. The independent living setting is ideal for seniors who are able to manage their own daily needs. Residents can arrange their own home care services, and we can assist with transportation to doctors’ appointments. Stay for a few days while a caregiver is traveling, or enjoy years of comfortable and active living in our residence.
Our all-inclusive rate includes:
- Three daily meals, snacks, and beverages
- Laundry and housekeeping services
- A variety of social, cultural, and physical activities
Daily Life and Activities
Independent living at Vassar-Warner Home includes plenty of opportunities to socialize, with services and programs tailored to each resident’s interests, health considerations, needs, and dietary restrictions. To encourage connection and well-being, residents will also enjoy a variety of activities, including exercise and mobility classes, Mahjong, painting and crafts, educational lectures on diverse topics, book clubs, and more.
About Vassar-Warner Home
Vassar-Warner Home is a historic senior living residence in Poughkeepsie that offers the charm of a 19th-century mansion with the comfort and safety of modern amenities. Built in 1835, our stately building on South Hamilton Street features grand columns, high ceilings, wide verandas, fireplaces, and large windows that fill the home with natural light, creating a warm and dignified senior housing setting. The residence is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Vassar-Warner Row.
While the building honors its nearly 200-year history, it is thoughtfully updated with modern conveniences that support independent living for today’s seniors. Residents benefit from elevators, a full-capacity generator, in-room telephones, and safety-equipped shower and bath facilities that support comfort, accessibility, and peace of mind.
