Vassar-Warner Home is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in Poughkeepsie, New York. Our mission is to serve seniors and their families desiring an independent lifestyle with the added comfort and protection of assistance when needed. Our residents make up a culturally, socially, and economically diverse community in which the staff, volunteers, and trustees seek to provide the compassion and warmth of a true home and the highest quality of service.
As Dutchess County’s only nonprofit independent senior living residence and adult day care, we are reliant on our grant and donation eligibility to support our community. Your support can help us sustain our operations, reestablish our endowment fund, and enhance quality of life for our residents.
A New Chapter: Our 2026 Campaign
After more than two years of navigating significant funding challenges, Vassar-Warner Home reopened its doors to residents in 2026. We have come so far in this time, and we’re counting on your support to help us finish the work we started. We have set an initial goal of $500,000 to secure our operating needs and reestablish our endowment fund to help more seniors afford to live here.

Reestablishing Our Endowment Fund
Throughout our history, we were able to help our residents maintain their housing through challenging economic times with our endowment fund. But as we rebuild after reopening our doors, the residence is currently private pay only. With your help, we can start a new endowment fund to help more seniors access and afford our independent living program.
Maintaining The Property
Built in 1835, our building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Vassar-Warner Row. Your donation can supplement grants for historic preservation to ensure we can maintain our beautiful home for many years to come.
Expanding Programs and Activities
An important facet of Vassar-Warner Home is our full roster of activities for residents and Adult Day Care participants. Our programming helps seniors maintain their physical and mental wellbeing, and the socialization opportunities are vital to prevent loneliness. Your support allows us to offer competitive wages and benefits to recruit top-notch staff, give more options to our community, and enrich their daily lives.
