Vassar-Warner Home is Dutchess County’s only nonprofit independent senior living residence, providing high-quality care that meets the individualized needs of each resident. A longstanding pillar for seniors in the Hudson Valley, Vassar-Warner’s nurturing environment is designed to enhance our residents’ quality of life.
Independent Living
Vassar-Warner Home provides private residential housing for older adults who are able to live independently and manage their own daily needs. This setting does not provide personal care, supervision, or medical services. The home’s all-inclusive rate covers three daily meals, laundry services, housekeeping, social, cultural, and physical activities. Residents are responsible for arranging their own healthcare and assistance.
Daily Life and Activities
Each resident at Vassar-Warner Home benefits from services and programs tailored to their interests, health considerations, needs, and dietary restrictions. To encourage connection and well-being, residents will also enjoy a variety of activities, including exercise and mobility classes, Mahjong, painting and crafts, educational lectures on diverse topics, book clubs, and more.
About Vassar-Warner Home
Vassar-Warner Home is a historic senior living residence in Poughkeepsie that offers the charm of a 19th-century mansion with the comfort and safety of modern amenities. Built in 1835, our stately building on South Hamilton Street features grand columns, high ceilings, wide verandas, fireplaces, and large windows that fill the home with natural light, creating a warm and dignified setting for older adults. The residence is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Vassar-Warner Row.
While the building honors its nearly 200-year history, it is thoughtfully updated with modern conveniences for today’s seniors. Residents benefit from elevators, a full-capacity generator, in-room telephones, and safety-equipped shower and bath facilities that support comfort, accessibility, and peace of mind.
