At Vassar-Warner Home, we know good food is a key ingredient to quality of life. Our chef works with a licensed dietician to ensure that meals are nutritious and delicious. Whenever possible, he prepares meals using fresh ingredients from Hudson Valley farms and food purveyors,  including resident purveyors! – (our Gardening Club maintains a vegetable and herb garden on the premises). The residents’ Menu Planning Club lets the chef know what they like—and don’t like!—and he does his best to incorporate their feedback. Our Baking and Gardening Clubs often share the fruits of their labor. Christmas cookies are a perennial favorite! And in the warmer months, everyone enjoys weekly BBQ meals.

Dining Facts

  • Meals are prepared in-house with both taste and senior nutrition in mind.
  • Accommodations are made for no-added-salt, no-concentrated-sweets, and/or mechanical-soft diets.
  • Daily meals include several choices and courses-dinner begins with salad bar and supper begins with homemade soup.
  • Refrigerators are available on each floor for storing favorite personal treats and between-meal snacks.
  • Residents’ guests are always welcome to join us for daily meals (for a nominal fee) and for special events.

The Dining Schedule

  • Hot Breakfast: 8:00am
  • Daily juice cart and social hour in the parlor
  • Dinner: 12:00pm  (features a daily salad bar and hot entrees)
  • Social hour: 3:00pm daily. (A weekly happy hour is held every Saturday at 4:00pm)
  • Supper: 5:00pm (features a homemade soup and lighter fare entrees)
  • Evening snack and beverage conclude the day
